![]() This song is about liberating oneself from the clutches of others' secrets. It has also been an honour to work with Kim and get to witness her brilliance. It was so cathartic and freeing to experiment like this and throw out the rule book. "Unholy" was made in Jamaica and was one of the most glorious creative moments I've ever had as an artist. Smith explained the creative process and the meaning of the song: The song has been described as a "glitchy synthpop cut" featuring a choir and hyperpop sounds, due to its metallic synths that were popularized by Scottish musician Sophie. Petras name-drops Barbadian singer Rihanna in her verse. On 25 August, Smith announced the track's title and a pre-save link. Disclosure also teased the song, playing their remix of it in live sets. The track went viral on the platform, spurring dance trends for over a month before its release. ![]() The track was first teased on 18 August 2022, through a clip on TikTok, in which Smith lip-syncs the chorus while Petras dances in a recording studio. The track's melody comes from its use of the double harmonic scale. It was also nominated for the Brit Award for Song of the Year at the Brit Awards 2023, Smith's fourth nomination in the category and Petras' first Brit nomination in any category. ![]() The song won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, marking Smith's first award since 2015 and Petras's first award overall. Outside the United Kingdom, "Unholy" topped the charts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the United States, becoming both Smith's and Petras' first chart topper in the latter, and peaked within the top ten of the charts in Petras' native Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, France, Indonesia and the top 20 in Italy. "Unholy" entered at the top of the UK Singles Chart. And so, Evan had to devise a plan to shoot them in their location - Portugal for Diogo and I think Cary was in Scotland - and then put all the actors together in one scene." Unholy" is a song by British singer Sam Smith and German singer Kim Petras, released on 22 September 2022, as the second single from Smith's fourth studio album Gloria (2023). We couldn't get Cary Elwes and Diogo (Morgado), we couldn't get them back for the second half of filming, they were both overseas, and stuck. Back then, though, when we were doing Unholy, it was people in like Hazmat suits running around, and we were very separated. I mean, here, in Georgia, I test two times a day, every day, for COVID. They're the safest places to be right now. And now, by the way, the only place I feel safe is on sets. Somehow, in all of this, was, oh s-, I've still got to do a performance and put it on screen! It was much more COVID-based than it was film-based for a while. As safe as we were, we still had a positive test when we went back, and so we shut down for another week, and it was a lot of craziness. We were also so early back, the only thing that had been shooting at that point was like Jurassic Park, and we kept hearing that people were getting sick, and they were having to shut down production, and so there was all of that. ![]() When we did go back to finish I wasn't even thinking about the movie, to be honest with you, I was way more concerned with safety protocols. ![]()

![]() ![]() These summaries were finalized between April and November of 2005 (see the front pages of Appendix A, Appendix B, and Appendix C for specific months of completion). They answered our many questions with diligence and care, and we are especially grateful for their willingness to review early drafts of the summaries of our discussions. Many thanks also are owed to the state officials with whom we talked. Bob Whitaker read an early draft and made numerous suggestions that improved the report considerably. Sharon Clark managed the production of early drafts and the final report with her usual efficiency and good humor. Lindsay Harris, a former analyst on our staff, helped enormously in the early stages of the project, participated in many of the discussions with state officials, and drafted several of the summaries found in the appendices. We thank her very much for her considerable help and leadership. We are grateful to everyone who participated in these panels, and absolve them all from any inaccuracies or misinterpretations that remain in the report.Ĭille Kennedy, our project officer in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, provided the initial impetus for this project as well as continued encouragement, support, and good ideas. This group read an early draft of the report and provided many helpful comments and suggestions. The second panel, convened in March 2006, included Gary Blau, Sybil Goldman, Ron Hendler, Chris Koyanagi, Ken Martinez, Martha Moorehouse, Judith Teich, Constance Thomas, and James Wotring. These individuals helped develop an appropriate focus for the project in its early stages. The first, convened in May 2004, included Robert Friedman, Gary Harbison, Russell Frank, Darcy Gruttadaro, Bruce Kamradt, Carol Lichtenwalter, Lucy Keating, Sybil Goldman, Karen Spoelman, Randy Myers, and Andrea Fiero. We asked two panels of experts to assist in the development of the project and final report. Port 80 is used for web traffic so if your ISP doesn’t want you to host a website from home they will generally block your ability to receive traffic via port 80. The best way to find out other than reading through your terms and conditions is to test if port 80 is open for inbound connections. Most ISPs don’t actually mind you hosting your own website from home, however some do specifically prohibit that action. Both are sometimes referred to as ALA, which can be confusing, but they’re two different nutrients with different roles in the body. Note: Alpha lipoic acid is not the same thing as alpha linolenic acid, a type of omega-3 fatty acid. This means it can be properly absorbed despite what types of foods you’re eating, and it can be used in almost all parts of the body. Something that makes ALA unique is that it’s both water-soluble and fat-soluble, unlike other nutrients (like B vitamins or vitamin A, C, D or E). Additionally, it helps the body digest and utilize carbohydrate molecules. ![]() It also works in the body to restore essential vitamin levels, such as vitamin E and vitamin C, and acts as a cofactor for several important mitochondrial enzymes. Like other antioxidants, alpha lipoic acid can help slow down cellular damage that is one of the root causes of diseases. ![]() Within our cells, ALA is converted into dihydrolipoic acid, which has protective effects over normal cellular reactions, such as those involved in metabolic functions and neuron signaling. Studies show this can have far-reaching benefits.ĪLA’s most valuable role in the body is fighting the effects of free radicals, which are dangerous, chemical-reaction byproducts that form during the process of oxidation. Is it “essential” that you consume a certain dosage of alpha lipoic acid every day? Not exactly, which is why it’s not considered an “essential nutrient.”Įven though we can make some of it on our own without supplements or outside food sources, eating an antioxidant-packed diet plus potentially using ALA supplements can increase the amount circulating in the body. It’s present in every cell inside the body and helps turn glucose into “fuel” for the body to use for energy. What Is Alpha Lipoic Acid?Īlpha lipoic acid (also called lipoic acid or thioctic acid) is an organosulfur compound found in the body and also synthesized by plants and animals. It’s naturally abundant in foods like green veggies, potatoes and certain types of yeast - plus it can be man-made in a lab and taken as an oral anti-inflammatory supplement. Humans make a small amount of ALA on their own, although the concentration in our bloodstreams goes up substantially when we eat a healthy diet. What is alpha-lipoic acid good for? It helps scavenge free radicals and slows the aging process - but perhaps its most famous use is in helping treat diabetes naturally. What is it about foods like broccoli and spinach that make them so healthy? There are the fiber, vitamins and minerals, of course, but then there are other important chemical compounds we call “antioxidants,” too - including alpha lipoic acid (ALA).Ĭhances are you’ve heard a lot about the many benefits of various antioxidants and high-antioxidant foods - fighting inflammation, helping to beat cancer and so much more - but have you ever wondered what exactly antioxidants are and how they work in the body?Īlpha lipoic acid - one kind of antioxidant - is a type of compound found in plant foods we commonly eat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Perhaps the most enchanting corner of this place, though, must rest with the chattel house.
